Sugar Rush

You may have seen in Mace in Belfast and other shops that American sweeties and cereals are starting to appear in dribs and drabs.

If you’re a fan of American candy though you’ll be delighted at this new arrival in Castle Court, Royal Avenue, Belfast.

This shop does exactly what it says on the tin – it’s fulled to the brim with sweeties, soft drinks, candy, marshmallow fluff, slushies and just about anything you can think of.

And most of it is the kind of thing you’ve only ever heard mentioned in the movies or sitcoms.

I have to say, it’s brilliant. They have Twinkies, Twizzlers, Reeses pieces and flavours of Skittles, M&Ms, Milkway and Snickers that us over the pond have never heard of before.

I had a bit of a squealy moment when I saw these popcorn pans – sorry if that’s the wrong name – they’re the same kind that Drew Barrymore had on the stove while having the last ever phone conversation in Scream.

The store is huge and if you’re looking for it, on the right hand side about three doors down from Boots but it does seem to have EVERYTHING including some wee characters I haven’t seen in a while…

But it is expensive – American sweeties tend to be, probably something to do with the cost of exporting them. The problem is, if you fancy a box of Twinkies it will cost you a cool £15.

But honestly even if this isn’t up your street it’s working popping in for a look around. You’ll be like a kid in a candy store! (sorry)
