Lush for Life – The Winter Collection Review

I was absolutely delighted recently to finally be able to attend a Lush press event in Dublin’s fair city.

In case you didn’t know I’m a huge Lush fan – actually to be fair I’m a huge fan of just about anything that involves a bath. Recently though I’ve started to move bubble bars and bath ballastics and delve into Lush skincare.

That’s not what this post is about however, this is all about submerging yourself in gloriously scented water that is multi-coloured and most likely to be shimmering and sparkling while it does all kinds of lovely things to your skin.

Here are some of my favourites of the winter collection and there are a couple of videos knocking around over on my Facebook page too.

First things first, I know Halloween is all but over but just LOOK at these bubble bars. Sparkly Pumpkin is full of lovely stuff like juniperberry, lime and grapefruit oils – it also comes in pink! – while Bewitched has bergamot and olibanum. You can see what Bewitched does to water over on my Facebook page as I made a couple of Boomerangs of its performance.

Lush’s big thing this year is to reduce packaging by up to at least 80% which is a pretty big order. However, Lush are known as a company for thinking outside of the box, or bottle in this case. If you have a favourite Lush shower gel, you can get it in or out of the bottle – here’s Snow Fairy as an example but you can also lose the bottle for Twilight, Rose Jam and Bubbly, just to name a few.

And finally, there are oodles and oodles of amazing soaps, bath ballastics and bubble bars for anyone who loves the Lush Life. My personal favourites are the bubble bars in the shape of magic wands that you can make a wish with as you wave them under the running water. There’s an amazing tangerine and mandarin (I’m loving orangy scents right now) rocking horse soap not to mention the bath melt in the form of a Christmas Tree.

A special has to go out to Butterbear – the polar bear bath bomb – because I got to mould my very own one on the night (you can see see the how to video over on the Facebook page). I’ve just turned him out for the first time and can absolutely guarentee he is full of cocoa butter and vanilla because my hands smell just like him right now. He’s absolutely lush – if you’ll pardon the pun.

I have some top tips for lush. Firstly, a bubble bar is a better investment then a bath ballistic because you can break bits off getting two or three baths out of it instead of just the one. Secondly, I always, always head to Lush in the post-Christmas sales because their lovely Christmas gift sets get reduced. The longer you wait the more they get reduced – I’ve even managed to bag some at 75% off original price. You have to time it well though because they are liaible to sell out.

And thirdly, watch this space because us lucky people in Belfast will soon be getting our very own Lush Spa. The rumours say January, I’m trying very hard not to hold my breath!
